Damani Dennisur is a Jamaican born, UK based poet and musician.
About Damani
Damani started his journey as a poet at 12 years old, writing for black history month, nationwide poetry slams and local rap/writing competitions, within a few short years he was Birminghams 7th Young Poet Laureate and his talent would put him in rooms he could only dream of.
Damani’s AIM High Writing Days
Damani’s day will focus on performance poetry. Following a brief introduction and a performance, Damani will further relax the group with a number of rhyming exercises to get the energy flowing with everyone in the room!
Follow on exercises involve work on rhyming, free-writes, word bursts and discussions, leading to writing sessions, where students are expertly encouraged to write individually and/or in school groups for performances. As the day progresses, it’s great to watch the confidence of the children grow!
A poetry day with Damani takes writing poetry (and sometimes rap) to another level!
