Harriet’s AIM High Writing Days

Gifted & Talented Writers’ Day: interactive, fun, educational and action-packed day, focusing on show-not-tell techniques, the nuts and bolts of storytelling and characterisation. Lots of opportunities for students to write themselves. Suitable for students from Year 3 to Year 8/9 however events and workshops for younger children are available on request.

Less Confident Writers’ Day: as above, but more gently paced.

GCSE English Language Day: aimed at super-preparing GCSE students for the creative writing component of their English Language exam.

Harriet also offers “Pick n Mix” workshops. Schools can choose from any combination of the following. All sessions last about an hour and a quarter, and Harriet can deliver three sessions in a day (or four shorter sessions if necessary).

·        Creative Writing Workshops: focusing on the nuts and bolts of storytelling, show-not-tell techniques, plot structure and characterisation. Suitable for students from Year 3 through to Year 8/9.

·        Catch-up English Language Workshop: Rocket-Boost your Language Skills: covering everything from sentence structure to grammar, punctuation, common spelling issues and fluent expression. Geared to the age and ability of the students I am working with. Worksheet provided. Suitable for students from Year 3 through to Sixth Form.

·        Poetry Workshop: using accessible poems and open discussion to make poetry accessible and encourage a genuine love of expression through language. Suitable for students from Year 5 through to Sixth Form.

NB - All workshops are best suited to a maximum of about thirty students.
