About Naomi
Naomi was a teacher for over 20 years and always enjoyed using books as a doorway to language and learning. She began writing after realising there was a need for more fictional stories that tie effectively into the curriculum.

Naomi’s AIM High Writing Days

Naomi’s KS1 Day

At the beginning of the day the children are invited to join Naomi in the world of Molly McDrew through storytelling and role play. Naomi encourages children to use and develop their imaginations then discuss and share their own adventure story ideas.

She works with the children to analyse characters, create magic and carefully plan an exciting adventure story of their own. She celebrates the children as authors themselves.

Naomi shares her own strategies for creating ideas and developing characters within a story. She discusses the importance of audience when writing and invites the children to choose someone that they will write their story for.

This day is designed to stretch KS1 students in all areas of their writing. Naomi focuses on using a rich vocabulary creating word banks with the children which contain exciting and challenging words. She allows children to experiment with new vocabulary and encourages a range of exciting sentence openers.

All children will be asked to edit their work which Naomi carefully models in small steps. The children will end the day with a celebration session where they can read out part or all of their fabulous stories.
