Pete Hall - Maths
Pete Hall is a freelance primary mathematics consultant. He has wide and varied experience in primary education. Pete has taught all the age ranges across the primary school.
About Pete
As a headteacher of an inner city primary school in Leeds, Pete led the school to a threefold increase in KS2 tests results - in all three subjects.
Pete was seconded to the National Numeracy Strategy for three years. He was the Senior Regional Coordinator for the National Centre for Excellence in the Teaching of Mathematics (NCETM).
As a freelance Consultant Pete has supported many Local Authorities, academies and schools. As an author, he has had many books published, notably a series on problem solving for KS1 and KS2. He has also produced online materials for a range of companies.
Pete’s AIM High Maths Days
Focusing on Mathematical Mastery - children are presented with a range of challenges that will allow them to use and apply the skills they have learned. Some of the challenges are from other countries and cultures, demonstrating the universal nature of mathematics.
The activities cover a range of number operations including early algebra and BODMAS. A very challenging shape activity will also be covered.
Pete believes that the teaching of mathematics should be stimulating, challenging and enjoyable. Pete’s passion is to help children achieve high standards and develop mathematical thinking through problem solving.
Pete’s day will be full of exciting, age appropriate problem solving activities. Many of the activities will utilise ICT, all of the activities will challenging but fun!
