Mike Barfield makes the final shortlist for two separate book awards
Award Nominations
Since 2000, the enormously popular and influential Blue Peter Book Awards have been recognising and celebrating the best authors, the most creative illustrators and the greatest reads for children.
Three books make the shortlist for ‘Best Story’ and three make the shortlist for ‘Best Book With Facts’ – and Mike’s latest work has made the final trio for the best fact book.
The Element in the Room
Mike has received recognition for his science book – ‘The Element in the Room: Investigating the Atomic Ingredients that Make Up Your Home’
Destroy This Book in The Name of Science
Mike has also had one of his books, Destroy This Book in The Name of Science: Galileo Edition, on the ASE (The Association for Science Education) Book of The Year Award Shortlist.
Destroy This Book: Galileo Edition is the ultimate activity-based book for boffins and inquisitive children who are inspired by science!
With fascinating facts, colouring and doodling activities to complete, and a dozen press-out projects to create, there’s hours of fun to be had cutting, tearing and pulling apart the pages (all in the name of science, of course).
Projects include Build Your Own Brainiacs, The Stand-up Chameleon, The Magic Mollusc and many more. Best of all, no expensive craft supplies are required.
