Robin Price - Writing
Robin started writing novels in 2004 – having previously written songs and poetry. He co-wrote a musical version of The Gruffalo by Julia Donaldson.
About Robin
The Gruffalo was a massive hit (because of Julia’s brilliant book and Tall Stories fab production). It toured the UK and ended up on Broadway – opposite The Lion King. Robin co-wrote the Olivier nominated musical Room on the Broom, he then got the confidence to move from writing songs into writing fiction. The Spartapuss series and the World Book Day recommended graphic novel – London Deep followed on from there.
Robin is the author of 14 books for that range from primary to lower secondary level, from Roobarb and Custard at reception to the graphic novel series London Deep (a Recommended Read for World Book Day 2011 in the 9-12 year category.)
Robin’s AIM High Writing Days
Robin Price offers innovative AIM High Writing Workshops from Year 1 to Year 10.
His innovative workshops use a combination of online apps and unique writing materials to speed students through planning and remove barriers to creativity. Both improving writers and more confident pupils will leave the workshop with a set of new tools to produce rich, layered pieces of writing. (No special equipment is needed for the workshops – just an interactive whiteboard and a stack of A4 paper).
Even The Best Writers need inspiration
Writing flows from an inspiring topic. Even the very best writers need to be inspired so teachers can choose from 40 writing themes for the workshop. Each theme comes with its own writing frame and printable materials which teachers can reuse after the workshop.
Robin can fit two (or three) themes into your Able writers day – so you could start with a history topic like Romans, The Stone Age, or Greek myths and follow it up with some science fiction or Shakespeare after lunch. Robin will introduce each topic in a fun and interactive way – your students don’t need any special knowledge of the topic before they arrive. Robin will introduce language points depending on age and level. You can choose from prose or poetry writing.
Innovative workshops to unleash creativity
Robin’s pioneering method – Accelerated writing – questions some of the assumptions that are made about writing. We all have different creative personalities and Robin’s inspiring Able Writers workshops have been designed with this in mind. Robin likes developing new materials and can work with you to create a bespoke experience for your students – whether it’s prose, poetry or factual writing.
